Jakarta. MRT Jakarta has launched the contractor tender for its Rp 300 billion ($16.76 million) Dukuh Atas Pedestrian Deck, which will connect six major transit services without relying on Jakarta's regional budget.

The elevated pedestrian deck will link Dukuh Atas MRT Station with Sudirman Commuter Line Station, BNI City Station, Jabodebek LRT, Jakarta LRT, and Transjakarta, improving connectivity across one of the capital's busiest transit-oriented development (TOD) hubs.

The project has entered the contractor procurement stage after MRT Jakarta completed the basic design and an earlier feasibility study with Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and Urban Renaissance.

"We're currently in the tender process, which was announced recently. The investment is roughly Rp 300 billion," Agus Trihan, advisor at MRT Jakarta's Program Management Office Division, said on Friday.

Agus said MRT Jakarta currently plans to finance the project independently instead of seeking private investment, as doing so would simplify ownership of the completed infrastructure.

"So far, there are no plans for private investment because bringing in other funding would create asset ownership issues. If MRT finances the project itself, the asset belongs to MRT. Although it will be built on provincial government land, MRT will lease the land while retaining ownership of the structure," he said.

TOD Planning Department Head Sagita Devi said the project would be financed by MRT Jakarta rather than Jakarta's regional budget (APBD).

"The project will be financed by MRT Jakarta, so it will not use APBD funding. At this stage, around 50% will come from MRT's investment, while the remaining portion is planned to be financed through a combination of MRT funds and loans, which are still under discussion," Sagita said.

If the procurement process stays on schedule, the contractor is expected to begin work in November, with construction targeted for completion by the end of 2028.

"The basic design has been completed, and we're now tendering for the contractor. We hope the contractor can come on board in November, with the project completed by the end of 2028," Agus said.
