Tangerang. PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) is expanding its electrification portfolio in Indonesia with the launch and preview of several new models at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, reinforcing its multi-pathway approach to mobility.

Held at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City in Tangerang on July 29, the showcase features the latest additions to Toyota’s Land Cruiser family, the new bZ4X Touring Battery EV, and the first public display of the latest Hilux lineup.

The launches underline Toyota’s effort to offer Indonesian customers a broader range of electrified mobility options — from hybrid vehicles designed for everyday use to battery-electric models and hybrid technology applied to its iconic off-road SUV.

“Over 55 years, Toyota has grown alongside Indonesian society by providing mobility solutions that remain relevant,” said Takuya Yokohama, president director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor. “We will continue to develop innovations that deliver comfort, performance, confidence, satisfaction and joy in every journey.”

Hybrid EVs for Everyday Mobility
Toyota is continuing to expand its range of electrified vehicles, including Hybrid EV models that combine fuel efficiency and convenience without requiring drivers to change their daily driving habits.

The technology uses a self-charging system, allowing the battery to be replenished through regenerative braking and the vehicle’s operation rather than relying exclusively on external charging infrastructure.

Toyota said its Hybrid EV technology is now being used across all 38 provinces in Indonesia, reflecting growing adoption and the technology’s suitability for a wide range of driving conditions and customer needs.

Land Cruiser Enters a New Hybrid Era
For more than six decades, the Land Cruiser has been associated with durability, luxury and off-road capability. At GIIAS 2026, Toyota is opening a new chapter for the iconic SUV with the introduction of the New Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid EV.

The model combines a 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine with an electric motor. The engine produces 305 kilowatts of power and 650 Newton-meters of torque, while the electric motor delivers 36 kW and 250 Nm.

Together, the system produces a maximum 341 kW of output and 790 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Land Cruiser to date, according to Toyota.

For the first time in the Land Cruiser family, Toyota uses a Parallel Hybrid System with the electric motor positioned between the engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. The system automatically manages the gasoline engine, electric motor, EV driving and regenerative braking.

Through an Open Clutch system, the engine and electric motor can operate together or independently, helping deliver responsive and linear acceleration. The vehicle can also operate using electric power at speeds below 30 kilometers per hour during normal take-off.

Off-road performance is supported by Auto Multi Terrain Select, which automatically selects the appropriate driving mode based on surface conditions to optimize traction.

The LC300 GR-S HEV features a black grille with the TOYOTA emblem, GR Sport bumper, matte-black wheels and GR badging, while the VX-R receives updated front and rear lower bumpers.

Land Cruiser FJ Makes Special Preview
Toyota is also giving visitors a first look at the Land Cruiser FJ, aimed at bringing the Land Cruiser experience to a broader audience.

Built around the theme “Freedom and Joy,” the model combines Land Cruiser’s rugged character with a design intended to give owners greater freedom to explore and express their personal style.

The exterior takes inspiration from the first-generation Land Cruiser, while the five-seat interior is designed around a functional cockpit concept.

The Land Cruiser FJ is powered by a 2.7-liter four-cylinder 2TR-FE gasoline engine producing 122 kW and 245 Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Its part-time four-wheel-drive system offers 2H, 4H and 4L modes, with 4L available in combination with a rear differential lock for challenging terrain.

bZ4X Touring Brings EV Capability to Longer Journeys
Toyota is also expanding its battery-electric lineup with the New bZ4X Touring Battery EV, combining the practicality of an estate-style touring vehicle with SUV characteristics.

The model features black overfenders, a more upright D-pillar, 20-inch alloy wheels and roof rails capable of carrying about 80 kilograms.

At 4,830 millimeters long, 1,860 mm wide and 1,675 mm tall, the bZ4X Touring has a rear overhang that is 140 mm longer than the standard bZ4X, providing additional cargo capacity.

Its all-wheel-drive system uses two electric motors, one on each axle. Each eAxle produces up to 167 kW and 268.6 Nm, giving the vehicle a combined system output of 280 kW.

Power comes from a 74.69-kWh lithium-ion battery. With DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, Toyota says the battery can be charged in about 28 minutes.

The vehicle offers an estimated driving range of 462 to 487 kilometers on a full charge, depending on road conditions and driving style.

For more challenging surfaces, the bZ4X Touring features an Offroad Capability Drive Mode and Grip Control. Snow/Dirt mode is designed to maintain traction and stability on slippery or uneven roads, while Deep Snow/Mud mode allows controlled wheel slip to help the vehicle move through softer terrain.

Grip Control further assists by regulating acceleration and braking at individual wheels, allowing drivers to focus on steering and vehicle control.

New Hilux Makes First Public Appearance
Following its introduction in June, Toyota is also giving the public its first opportunity to see the latest New Hilux lineup at GIIAS 2026.

Visitors can explore the New Hilux 2.8 4x4 in single-cab and double-cab configurations, including E, G and V variants, as well as the New Hilux Double Cab AWD Battery EV.

Toyota’s expanded lineup at GIIAS 2026 reflects its broader strategy of offering multiple mobility technologies rather than relying on a single path to electrification.

The company says its commitment extends beyond vehicles to after-sales services and its dealer network, which are designed to provide customers with greater convenience, comfort and confidence.
