Jakarta. Indonesia’s state electricity company PLN has deployed 72,053 personnel nationwide to ensure reliable power supply during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period, as demand is expected to remain stable and manageable.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said the national electricity system is in a secure and well-controlled condition ahead of the holiday, with sufficient capacity to meet peak demand.

“The power system is operating safely and in prime condition. Peak load is projected at around 35 gigawatts, while available supply exceeds 51 gigawatts, ensuring a strong reserve margin,” Darmawan said during a national electricity readiness briefing held in Depok, West Java, on Thursday.

He added that primary energy supplies — including coal, fuel, and gas — are also secure, supporting the system’s overall reliability.

PLN has established a nationwide standby period from March 12 to March 31, during which tens of thousands of personnel are deployed across 4,137 command posts and operate around the clock.

“PLN personnel across Indonesia remain on high alert. Even during the long holiday period, our teams are in the field to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, including for vital infrastructure and religious activities during Eid,” Darmawan said.

The operational readiness is supported by 4,901 service vehicles and 4,594 motorcycles, along with critical backup equipment such as 2,005 generators, 773 uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, 1,349 mobile substations, and 429 cranes.

Darmawan said the preparedness reflects coordinated efforts across PLN Group, covering fuel supply, power plant readiness, and the resilience of transmission and distribution networks.

In parallel, PLN is also strengthening support for electric vehicle (EV) users during the holiday travel season. The company has prepared 4,769 public EV charging stations (SPKLU) at 3,097 locations nationwide, along with 15 mobile charging units to assist travelers.

“If EV users encounter issues such as running out of power during their journey, they can contact us via WhatsApp. We are ready to assist to ensure smooth travel,” he said.

Darmawan reaffirmed PLN’s commitment to delivering reliable services during one of Indonesia’s most important holidays.

“Eid al-Fitr is a sacred moment for Muslims. We remain fully committed to ensuring that people can celebrate in comfort, warmth, and togetherness, supported by reliable electricity,” he said.
