North Tapanuli Deputy Regent Applauds PLN’s Rapid Power Restoration After Disasters
North Tapanuli, N. Sumatra. State utility PT PLN (Persero) has moved quickly to repair the electricity system and assist residents affected by floods and landslides in North Sumatra, an effort that earned praise from North Tapanuli Deputy Regent Deni Parlindungan Lumbantoruan.
He noted that PLN has been working nonstop to restore electricity in the affected areas, with several locations now reconnected to power.
“We see that our colleagues at PLN have been working incredibly hard, giving their full effort,” he said during a relief-aid distribution event at the North Tapanuli Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) post on Friday.
He further expressed appreciation for PLN’s compassion, recognizing not only its efforts to normalize the power system amid challenging conditions but also its initiative to distribute aid to communities facing hardship.
“Thank you to the PLN team for their dedication, especially for the donations provided today. We at the North Tapanuli Regency Government will strive to distribute the donated items to our designated posts,” Deni said.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo also visited the disaster site, emphasizing that PLN has deployed its best resources to accelerate power restoration and ensure residents gradually regain access to electricity.
“Our duty here is not only to restore electricity quickly and safely but also to reignite the spirit of the community so they can rise again from this disaster,” Darmawan said.
Alongside accelerating repairs, PLN, through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, has distributed food packages and public-kitchen supplies to support evacuees.
Aid distribution will continue across several regions, including Medan, Binjai, Deli Serdang, Padang Sidempuan, South Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, and Sibolga.
“We are here to work together, to help ease the burden of residents affected by the flash floods and landslides. PLN will continue coordinating with local governments and BPBD to identify community needs as conditions evolve on the ground,” Darmawan said.
Mundhakir, General Manager of PLN’s North Sumatra Distribution Unit, added that PLN teams are working collectively to support affected communities.
“We have mobilized all personnel to work hand-in-hand at the affected locations. We have also partnered with the PLN Baitul Maal Foundation (YBM) to provide stretchers and ambulances for victim evacuation,” Mundhakir said.
