Osaka. Amid the tide of globalization, United Tractors (UT) reaffirms its commitment to preserving and promoting Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage on the global stage.

This commitment was realized through the participation of UT’s supported dance troupe at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, a prestigious international event that brings together cultural expressions from more than 150 countries.

“Our participation is not merely about performing traditional dances, but also about carrying Indonesia’s message of harmony to the world. From the slopes of Mount Arjuno, these young dancers prove that art transcends language, connects nations, and strengthens Indonesia’s cultural diplomacy,” said Himawan Sutanto, UT’s CSR Manager.

Showcasing Harmony Through Dance
From August 20–22, 2025, the Sanggar Karsa Budaya Nuswantara dance troupe from Sumbergondo Village, Mount Arjuno, East Java, performed at the Indonesia Pavilion. Under the theme “Thriving in Harmony”, they presented meaningful pieces such as Ontran-Ontran Giri Wono, Indrokilo, Guntaraya, Arjuna Wiwaha, and Trenggana Sumapala Sang Turangga.

Founded in 2008 and led by Agus Mardianto, Sanggar Karsa Budaya Nuswantara now has 203 members, ranging from children to adults. Based in a modest village, the troupe has dedicated itself to mastering traditional, creative, modern, and contemporary genres, with the spirit of preserving Indonesia’s cultural heritage.

For the dancers, performing at the Expo was more than an achievement -- it was a dream come true, to stand on an international stage as cultural ambassadors of Indonesia.

Preparing for the Global Stage
Preparations began early in 2025, with intensive training, new choreography, costume and property design, and months of rehearsal. On August 17, 2025, the group of eight dancers and two accompanying mentors departed for Osaka.

The initiative was fully supported by Astra, UT’s parent company. The World Expo is widely recognized as the world’s third-largest global event after the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup. This year’s Osaka Expo highlights sustainable development (SDGs), innovation, and cultural exchange.

UT’s support for Sanggar Karsa Budaya Nuswantara reflects the belief that cultural preservation can go hand-in-hand with diplomacy and development. More than entertainment, these performances are a universal language -- sharing Indonesia’s values of harmony, friendship, and diversity with the world.

United Tractors believes that safeguarding cultural heritage not only honors the past but also builds bridges toward a harmonious future for Indonesia and beyond.
