Astra Honors Young Innovators, Adds Village Awards as Entries Top 19,000
Jakarta. More than 19,000 people applied for the 2026 SATU Indonesia Awards, an annual initiative by Astra International recognizing young Indonesians whose work addresses challenges in healthcare, education, environmental protection, technology, and entrepreneurship.
The latest winners were announced Wednesday at Astra Tower in Jakarta, where the company also introduced a new category recognizing villages that have successfully developed local economic potential and improved community welfare.
Launched in 2010, the SATU Indonesia Awards have recognized a total of 792 young Indonesians through 2026, according to the company.
Astra International President Director Rudy said the initiative was intended to encourage more young people to take an active role in addressing social challenges and contributing to national development.
"Looking at today's SATU Indonesia Awards finalists, young people are becoming increasingly aware of the future. They are beginning to take the lead and drive change," Rudy said during the ceremony.
He said the company viewed community development as an important part of its business and social responsibilities, with initiatives designed to create opportunities and help communities become more self-reliant.
Five Young Innovators Recognized
This year's SATU Indonesia Awards recognized five individuals for their contributions across different fields.
In healthcare, Andy Rizky Tenryayu, from Bone, received an award for initiating Pejuang Gizi Anak, a program focused on improving children's nutrition.
The education award went to Hari Novar, who established Penjembatan Asa Anak Pelosok Riau, an initiative supporting children in remote communities in Riau.
Ahmad Fahrezi received the environmental award for his work in waste processing and circular agriculture.
In entrepreneurship, Afif Alfianto was recognized for an initiative empowering women economically through the use of tamanu forest resources.
The technology award went to Feri Ramanda for pioneering data-driven smart livestock farming.
New Village Awards Introduced
Astra also expanded the awards program this year by introducing the Desa Sejahtera Astra (Astra Prosperous Villages) category, recognizing villages that have developed local resources and improved residents' livelihoods.
Four villages received awards in the inaugural category.
Sukaluyu village in Karawang, West Java, won the healthcare category, while Karangjengkol village in Purbalingga, Central Java, received the education award.
Purwodadi village in Malang, East Java, was recognized for environmental initiatives, and Tanjuang Bonai village in Tanah Datar, West Sumatra, received the entrepreneurship award.
According to the company, the broader Desa Sejahtera Astra program has reached nearly 1,400 villages across 36 provinces, benefiting approximately 3 million people.
Rudy said Astra's approach to community development went beyond providing financial or material assistance, focusing instead on creating opportunities, building self-reliance, and helping communities realize their potential.
Astra Plans Community Programs for 70th Anniversary
Astra also outlined a series of community development initiatives planned for 2027, when the company will celebrate its 70th anniversary under the theme Creating and Growing Together with Indonesia.
The anniversary programs are expected to include seven social initiatives across seven Indonesian islands, with a particular focus on education, healthcare, environmental protection and village development.
Among the planned activities are school revitalization projects benefiting 7,000 students, improvements to community waste banks and the revitalization of 700 integrated health service posts, known locally as posyandu, serving young children.
Astra also plans to provide assistance and development support to 700 villages under the Desa Sejahtera Astra program.
Company employees will be encouraged to participate in community activities, including a campaign to donate 70,000 books.
The initiatives form part of Astra's efforts to expand its community development programs as the company approaches seven decades of operations in Indonesia.
