Prabowo Vows to Build 3 Million Homes for the Less Privileged if Elected President

Jakarta. Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto unveiled a bold commitment to build 3 million homes for low-income families if he wins the February 4 election as he appealed to voters In the final presidential debate on Sunday.

"We plan to build 3 million houses for those who don’t have any -- 1 million houses in rural areas, 1 million in coastal regions, and 1 million in urban settings,” Prabowo said.

Additionally, Prabowo pledged to grant scholarships to 20,000 high school graduates, enabling them to pursue education abroad. 

Specifically, 10,000 students would be directed toward medical schools overseas, and another 10,000 would receive scholarships for studies in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, biology, and physics in foreign universities.

During the debate, Prabowo emphasized his commitment to addressing fundamental needs as a top priority. He also reiterated his promise to provide free meals for children and pregnant mothers, positioning it as a crucial initiative compared to other proposals, such as free internet.

"I'm not suggesting that free internet isn't important. I'm just prioritizing based on fundamental needs," Prabowo responded to a question from fellow candidate Ganjar Pranowo.
