Jakarta. Leo Rolly Carnando and Bagas Maulana won the men’s doubles title of the Korea Open Badminton Tournament on Sunday, less than a week after their pairing was created.

They beat first-seeded Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-Jae in front of the opponents’ home crowd at Mokpo Indoor Stadium 18-21, 21-9, and 21-8.

The win is remarkable because Leo and Bagas became partners only after the Japan Open last week, where Leo played with Daniel Marthin and Bagas teamed up with Muhammad Shohibul Fikri. The two Indonesian doubles managed to reach the semifinals in their debuts in Japan.

The swap meant that Daniel has Fikri as his new partner and the duo had to play against Leo and Bagas in the semifinal in Korea.

The Leo-Bagas pair is now ranked 174th in the world.
