Jakarta. Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri successfully defended their China Open men's doubles title on Sunday, rallying past world No. 1 pair Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae of South Korea to claim their second BWF World Tour Super 1000 title in as many weeks.

The Indonesian duo recovered from losing the opening game 16-21 to win 21-19, 21-19 in a marathon 110-minute final at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Changzhou.

The victory came just one week after Fajar and Fikri also defeated the Korean pair in the Japan Open final, completing an impressive sweep of back-to-back Super 1000 tournaments.

The China Open is one of the most prestigious events on the BWF World Tour, carrying Super 1000 status, the circuit's highest regular tournament category.

"This is the result of our hard work, and I hope it becomes momentum for Indonesia's men's doubles sector to improve further while motivating our younger players to continue chasing our ranking," Fajar was quoted as saying by the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI).

Fajar said the final was physically demanding, with the Korean pair playing more aggressively than they had a week earlier in Tokyo.

"They gave everything and were willing to try every shot. They played quite differently from last week," he said.

He added that effective teamwork with Fikri helped him conserve energy and maintain his stamina throughout the match.

Fikri said the pair would quickly shift their focus to the remainder of the season, including preparations for the BWF World Championships.

"Once we're back in Indonesia, we'll immediately begin intensive preparations," he said.
