Denpasar. Bali Police have deployed 2,169 personnel for Operation Ketupat Agung 2026 to secure the upcoming Nyepi Day and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya said the operation will run for 13 days from March 13 to March 25, involving police officers supported by the Indonesian Military and other related agencies.

According to Daniel, the operation aims to ensure security, safety and smooth traffic flow during the Eid homecoming and return travel periods, as well as other holiday activities.

The effort also seeks to maintain a safe and orderly environment as Bali prepares to celebrate both Nyepi and Eid, which fall close together this year.

The operation was officially launched during a troop deployment ceremony at Iptu Soetardjo Field at the Bali Police Brimob Headquarters in Tohpati, Denpasar, on Thursday.

“Security will also focus on vital facilities and crowded public areas,” Daniel said.

Authorities have set up 31 security posts, consisting of 15 security posts, 11 service posts and five integrated posts staffed by police, military personnel and other agencies.

Security will also focus on religious sites and activities expected to draw large crowds, including 256 mosques, 539 prayer rooms, 351 Eid prayer locations and 308 sites for takbiran night celebrations.

Takbiran night refers to the evening before Eid al-Fitr, when Muslims chant praises to God to mark the end of Ramadan.

The operation will also cover key transportation hubs and tourist destinations, including I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, eight ports, 11 bus terminals, 77 tourist attractions, 59 traditional markets, seven modern markets and 37 shopping centers.

Authorities are also paying special attention to activities leading up to Nyepi Day, which falls on March 19, 2026.

Key events expected to require heightened security include the Tawur Agung Kesanga ritual and the Ogoh-Ogoh parade, both part of Balinese Hindu traditions held ahead of Nyepi.

Daniel also urged residents planning to travel during the holiday period to secure their homes before leaving.

“Make sure your house is safe, check electrical installations and gas stoves, secure valuables and ensure all doors and windows are locked to prevent fires or crime,” he said.
