Jakarta. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) mentioned his plans for a cabinet reshuffle on the sidelines of BNI Investor Daily Summit 2023, which took place at Hutan Kota by Plataran, Senayan, Jakarta on Tuesday.

"Maybe this week. It's currently being prepared," Jokowi told the media after the opening ceremony of the event.

When asked about the reason for the cabinet reshuffle, Jokowi declined to provide a direct answer.

Within Jokowi's cabinet, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto is vying for the presidency in the 2024 election, with Jokowi's eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as his vice-presidential candidate. Prabowo previously contested elections against Jokowi in both 2019 and 2024.

However, Jokowi indicated that the planned reshuffle won't include the Defense Ministry. Jokowi said the change would take place in the role of the Minister of Agriculture, which presently remains vacant following the resignation of the former minister, Syahrul Yasin Limpo, who is detained for alleged corruption.

Following Syahrul's resignation, Arief Prasetyo Adi, the Head of the National Food Agency, has been serving as acting minister.

When asked if the new agriculture minister would come from the Democratic Party, Jokowi simply nodded and left the scene.
