Jakarta. Iran is now accepting financial donations from generous Indonesians to rebuild the country as the US-Israeli military campaign against Tehran marked its third week with no clear end in sight.

Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi announced tWednesday hat Tehran had arranged a bank account to accept the cash assistance. The envoy also thanked the Indonesian government and people for their support, although Iran remains doubtful that the warring parties can sit at the same table for now.

“At your request, we have announced a bank account meant to help reconstruct the damaged areas in Iran. The details are available on the embassy’s official social media account. It is the only official channel for the donation,” Boroujerdi said in a video uploaded by @iraninindonesia on Instagram.

The embassy has said that the money would go into helping the victims and the affected family members. The donations will also go into reconstruction efforts.

Iranian missions in other parts of the world have opened donations for the same cause, including New Delhi and Bangkok. They have made similar messages, saying that the bank accounts were in response to massive inquiries from supporters. Israel and the US launched the first stage of their military campaign against Iran on Feb. 28. Iran swiftly retaliated by firing missiles at Israel and US-allied Gulf states. The war has shown no signs of abating.

The Indonesian government has not declared its intent to make any financial contributions to Tehran. Since the war erupted, President Prabowo Subianto has proposed becoming a mediator, even willing to fly directly to Tehran to facilitate the dialogue. Although Iran has shown little to no interest in engaging in talks with the US side, the offer still stands. Jakarta has told Tel Aviv and Washington to end the military operations.

“Indonesia calls on the US and Israel to cease their attacks against Iran,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Yvonne Mewengkang said earlier this month.

“We also call on Iran to cease attacks targeting neighboring countries in the region, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.”
