Indonesian Military Reshuffles Top Brass Across All Branches
Jakarta. Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto has carried out a major leadership reshuffle involving 42 high-ranking officers, in a move aimed at maintaining organizational vitality and ensuring smooth leadership succession across the armed forces.
The reshuffle was formalized in a decree issued on July 31, 2025, and affects officers across all branches: 21 from the Army, 9 from the Navy, and 12 from the Air Force.
“This organizational adjustment responds to evolving strategic challenges while maintaining leadership continuity and enhancing the effectiveness of the TNI’s core duties across all branches,” said Major General Kristomei Sianturi, Head of the TNI’s Public Information Office, on Wednesday.
The rotation includes several key strategic positions. Major General Kosasih, previously a senior Army officer, has been appointed Commander of Military Regional Command III/Siliwangi, replacing Major General Dadang Arif Abdurachman, who is entering retirement.
Meanwhile, Major General Rano Maxim Adolf Tilaar has been named the new Governor of the Military Academy (Akmil), succeeding Major General Arnold Aristoteles Paplapna, who is now a defense strategy instructor at the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas).
The rotation also addresses changes due to mandatory retirements and the passing of Major General Robertus Donatus Ndona, who previously served as a special advisor to the TNI Commander.
Other key appointments span various institutions, including the Defense Ministry, TNI Headquarters, educational and operational units, and cross-agency assignments.
“This reshuffle reflects the TNI’s commitment to placing the best human resources in positions aligned with their competencies, qualifications, and organizational needs. The process adheres to principles of meritocracy, integrity, and readiness to face increasingly complex operational challenges,” Kristomei said.
