Jakarta. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has called on the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry to issue a policy banning students from playing the game Roblox, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

According to her, such a policy should be established through an integrated system to protect children in the digital space.

“There must be cross-sector partnerships, including with the Communication and Digital Affairs Ministry, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), and technology industry players, to design comprehensive and practical national guidelines for child protection in the digital realm,” said Puan on Thursday.

She added that the ban on Roblox must be accompanied by education targeting three key groups: children, parents, and educators. “Children need to understand the reasons, not just be prevented. Parents and teachers also need to be equipped with the skills to guide children in facing digital content,” she said.

Puan said legislators are ready to support the initiative, both in terms of legislation and budget. “It’s not just about banning, but about preparing them to become smart, critical, and safe digital users,” she added.

Previously, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, prohibited children from playing Roblox due to its violent content.

Meanwhile, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi emphasized that the government could take the step of blocking the game Roblox as an effort to protect the nation's younger generation. The government will not hesitate to eliminate anything that could have a negative impact on future generations.

According to him, the Communication and Digital Affairs Ministry is currently continuing to evaluate Roblox and other gaming platforms. If any elements are found to be inappropriate for children, the government will take firm action.
