Jakarta. The Central Leadership Board (DPP) of the Golkar Party is scheduled to hold a plenary meeting today, Tuesday, Aug. 13, at their headquarters in West Jakarta. One of the main agenda items is to select and appoint an acting chairman following Airlangga Hartarto’s resignation from his position as the party’s chairman.

"In light of Airlangga Hartarto's decision to step down as the chairman of DPP Golkar Party, which he announced on Saturday, the Golkar Party will convene a plenary meeting on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Jakarta time, with a spirit of consensus and deliberation," said Meutya Hafid, Chairperson of the Golkar Party, in her statement on Tuesday.

Meutya disclosed that the plenary meeting would primarily focus on the reading of Airlangga Hartarto's resignation letter and the appointment of an acting chairman. Additionally, the meeting would address the scheduling of the national leadership meeting and the extraordinary national congress.

"The plenary meeting will be conducted with a spirit of consensus and deliberation," Meutya emphasized.

Airlangga Hartarto officially resigned as Golkar’s chairman as of Saturday. He stated that his resignation was aimed at maintaining the unity of the Golkar Party and ensuring the stability of the government transition scheduled for October 2024. Airlangga assured that his resignation process would be carried out peacefully and orderly, upholding Golkar's dignity.
