Election Recap: Prabowo Surges Ahead with Nearly 59 Million Votes
Jakarta. Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka secured a substantial lead in 21 out of 38 provinces and one overseas electoral district for the 2024 Presidential Election.
According to the General Election Commission (KPU) national vote recap, Prabowo amassed 58,989,343 votes as of Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Ganjar Pranowo and his vice presidential candidate Mohammad Mahfud MD followed with a total of 20,321,709 votes, and Anies Baswedan and his VP candidate Muhaimin Iskandar (Cak Imin) obtained 20,172,494 votes.
KPU aims to complete the national-level vote tallying process for the 2024 election by March 18. This target is 2 days earlier than the deadline for March 20.
"We are monitoring developments at the provincial level. But now, it's relatively completed and we're in the final stages," KPU Commissioner August Mellaz said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The 21 provinces that have completed the national recapitulation of the 2024 Presidential Election vote count include Yogyakarta, Gorontalo, Central Kalimantan, Lampung, Bali, Bangka Belitung Islands, West Kalimantan, South Sumatra, Central Java, DKI Jakarta, Riau Islands, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), South Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Banten, East Kalimantan, East Java, Southeast Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Riau, and West Papua.
