Denpasar, Bali. An Australian man and his two Indonesian children were found dead inside a bungalow in Legian, Bali, on Sunday, with police investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

The victims were identified as SDJ, 57, an Australian citizen, and his two children, ADS, 7, and LKS, 4. They were found at about 10:14 a.m. local time at a bungalow on Jalan Three Brothers in Central Legian, Kuta district, Badung regency.

The deaths were discovered after the man's wife, who was in Jakarta, asked a friend in Bali to check on her husband and children because she had been unable to contact them.

The friend, identified as Nur Khamid, 51, arrived at the bungalow at about 8:30 a.m. and tried to look inside through a window but saw no activity.

He then contacted the bungalow's owner and returned to the property with him. After they received no response, the owner contacted the local neighborhood head.

The neighborhood head and several residents later arrived and knocked on the door while calling out to the occupants. When there was still no response, they forced the door open and found all three victims dead inside.

Police from the Denpasar Police and Kuta Police arrived and conducted an initial examination of the scene. Officers found signs of possible violence on the bodies of the two children, police said. The bodies were later taken to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar for further examination.

Denpasar Police spokesman Iptu I Gede Adhi Saputra confirmed that the three victims were found after the wife asked a friend to check on them.

Investigators are examining the scene, reviewing CCTV footage and questioning witnesses, including the victim's wife, as they seek to establish the cause and sequence of the deaths.

Police have also coordinated with the Australian Consulate because one of the victims was an Australian citizen.

Police have not yet determined the cause of death or reached a conclusion on what happened inside the bungalow.
