Where to Watch: Public Viewings for Indonesia vs Uzbekistan in Greater Jakarta

Jakarta. Several venues in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Greater Jakarta) will host public viewings (nobar) of the Indonesian U-23 national team's match against Uzbekistan in the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup semi-final.

The match, held at the Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium in Doha, Qatar, on Monday, will kick off at 9:00 p.m.Jakarta time.

One of the largest venues for public viewing is Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. The GBK gates will open at 8:30 p.m. Additionally, there will be public viewings at the Youth and Sports Ministry's auditorium, and Pos Bloc public spaces scattered across Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya.

Other public viewing locations in Central Jakarta include Lapangan Banteng, BNI City Station, and the Lobby of the Kemayoran Gapura Building.

For South Jakarta residents, public viewings are available at Lippo Mall Kemang and the South Jakarta Mayor's Office. In East Jakarta, the public viewing location is at the Cipinang Melayu Sub-district office yard.

In Bogor, public viewings are available at the Plaza Balai Kota Bogor starting at 8:30 p.m. In Depok, a public viewing will be held at the Depok Open Space, near the mayor's office on Margonda Street. 

Deputy Mayor of Depok Imam Budi Hartono urged people planning to attend public viewing events to maintain order, security, and cleanliness. "Let's hope we can maintain order and security during the event. Let's also keep it clean. Okay?" Imam said on his personal Instagram @imambhartono.

In Tangerang, public viewings will be held at vocational school SMK 4 Tangerang, Elektrik Park, Pasar Lama Tangerang, Pamulang Town Square (alun-alun), the Pondok Aren Police Station yard, and the Pondok Aren Food Court.

In Bekasi, public viewings will be held in front of the Patriot Chandrabaga Stadium, the Bekasi City Government office, the Gedung Juang Tambun Museum, Plaza Cikarang Timur, and the Bekasi City Government Plaza.

Previously, public viewings were banned by the MNC Group, the official broadcaster of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup, without their permission. However, after facing criticism for this ban, the MNC Group clarified its stance.

MNC Group Corporate Secretary, Syafril Nasution, emphasized that there was no ban on public viewings. The restriction is only on commercial activities during public viewing events.
