Jakarta. A portion of flights currently operating out of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta will be transferred to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang starting August 1, 2025, in a move designed to ease congestion and enhance operational efficiency across the capital’s two main air hubs.

Airport operator Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) confirmed that the transition will be carried out gradually and systematically to ensure minimal disruption to passengers.

“This relocation aims to create operational efficiency and improve the overall travel experience,” said I Wayan Darma, Regional CEO for InJourney Airports’ Regional Office I, in an official statement. “Halim and Soekarno-Hatta airports will operate synergistically, with clearly defined functions.”

Halim Airport will continue to serve selected commercial flights from Citilink and Batik Air, as well as military and VVIP flights. Meanwhile, Soekarno-Hatta will accommodate additional routes to relieve congestion at Halim, especially amid growing air travel demand in the Greater Jakarta area.

InJourney Airports said all operational and technical aspects have been thoroughly prepared to maintain passenger safety, security, and comfort.

“The redistribution of flight frequencies between the two airports supports more efficient and optimal service delivery,” Wayan added.
