Tangerang Factory Fire Does Not Disrupt Soekarno-Hatta Flights
Tangerang, Banten. A fire at a factory producing light bulbs and electric fans in Batuceper, Tangerang, did not disrupt flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Wednesday, airport authorities said.
Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the site after the fire broke out at about 12:55 p.m. local time in an area outside the airport, according to Yudistiawan, assistant deputy for communications and legal affairs at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
“The situation at the scene is currently being handled intensively by the relevant authorities,” Yudistiawan said.
The airport’s Airport Operation Control Center monitored the incident and found no impact on flight operations. Both arrivals and departures continued normally and according to schedule, he said.
“Airport management confirms that all flight operations remain normal, safe and smooth following the fire incident around the airport’s external area,” Yudistiawan said.
He said aviation safety and security remained the airport’s top priorities. Airport authorities were continuing to monitor conditions around the airport and coordinate with relevant agencies to ensure the area remained safe.
Authorities also urged passengers to remain calm and avoid relying on unverified information. Travelers were advised to check updates through the airport’s official communication channels and their respective airlines.
