Probolinggo. In honor of the Nyepi celebration, access to the popular tourist destination Mount Bromo will be completely closed from March 11 to March 12. The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office (BB TNBTS) has announced the temporary closure, affecting all entry points from four regions, namely Wonokerto Village in Probolinggo Regency, Wonokitri Village in Pasuruan, and the entry points in Malang and Lumajang.

Hendro Widjanarko, the Head of BB TNBTS, explained that the closure will commence at 06:00 a.m. Jakarta time on the specified dates. He highlighted that this decision is a form of respect for the Hindu community celebrating Nyepi, a day of silence and self-reflection.

For tourists approaching from Malang, access will be restricted in the Jemplang Village area, Poncokusumo Subdistrict, Malang Regency.

Tourist visitation to Mount Bromo in 2023 reached 368,507 individuals, comprising both domestic and international visitors. This influx of tourists contributed to non-tax state revenue (PNBP) amounting to Rp 14.70 billion ($945,867).

Handy clarified that all aircraft movements would be halted during this period, with exceptions only for emergency situations. Coordination with airport and security authorities has been undertaken to ensure a seamless Nyepi Day.
