Mount Bromo Reopens to Tourists After Wildfire Closure
E. Java. Mount Bromo in East Java has reopened to tourists after being temporarily closed due to a wildfire. The Bromo Tengger National Park authority reopened the tourist area at midnight on Thursday.
The reopening applies to several entrance routes, including Jemplang and Coban Trisula in Malang Regency, Senduro in Lumajang Regency, Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency, and Cemoro Lawang in Probolinggo Regency. Some tourists have started visiting the area again following the reopening.
Sarimah, a tourist from Malaysia, said she was happy that Bromo had reopened when she arrived. She visited the area with her coworkers and enjoyed several tourist spots around Mount Bromo.
“I’m grateful that Bromo has reopened, so we can enjoy the scenery here. We visited Puncak Seruni Point, Pasir Berbisik, Savana Bromo, and Goa Widodaren,” Sarimah said.
It was her first time visiting Bromo, and she was impressed by the natural scenery in the Mount Bromo area.
“I have actually been here for three days, but I could only visit the tourist attractions today because they had been closed. Thankfully, I still got the chance to visit,” she said.
Based on observations at the site, tourist activity was still relatively low on the first day of reopening. In addition to local tourists, a number of international tourists were also seen visiting the national park.
The wildfire in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park occurred around 13 days ago and burned at least 1.121 hectares of forest and land.
