Jakarta. Indonesia’s economy jumped 5.47% year-on-year (yoy) in the third quarter of 2026, according to the latest data from the central statistics bureau BPS.

“It’s much higher compared to the 5.04% yoy expansion that we had posted in the third quarter of 2025,” BPS deputy Moh Edy Mahmud told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday.

This marked the highest Q3 expansion since 2023. The pace at the time suddenly slowed to 4.94% yoy. Q3 growth slowly rebounded to 4.95% yoy in 2024 and eventually 5.04%  yoy the following year. But the latest figure still falls short of the 5.73% yoy growth seen between July and September 2022.

Indonesia has also outperformed expectations. Think tank LPEM FEB UI predicted a 5.28% growth. CORE Indonesia analyst Yusuf Rendy Manilet told the state news agency Antara, that he doubted the economy could exceed 5.1% for Q3 2026.

Indonesia started the year strong with a 5.61% yoy growth in the January-March period amid the Iran war uncertainties. The pace slowed to 5.29% yoy the following quarter.
