Indonesia Collects $3.05 Billion in Digital Economy Taxes Through June
Jakarta. Indonesia collected Rp 54.7 trillion ($3.05 billion) in taxes from the digital economy as of June 30, with value-added tax (VAT) on electronic commerce accounting for more than three-quarters of the total, the Finance Ministry's Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) said on Thursday.
The total comprised Rp 42.01 trillion in VAT from electronic commerce (PMSE), Rp 2.09 trillion from crypto asset transactions, Rp 5.1 trillion from fintech lending taxes, and Rp 5.51 trillion collected through the Government Procurement Information System (SIPP).
DJP's Director of Dissemination, Services and Public Relations, Inge Diana Rismawanti, said the tax authority had appointed 271 digital businesses as PMSE VAT collectors by the end of June, with one adjustment made during the month involving Lemon Squeezy LLC.
"We hope growing tax compliance among digital businesses will strengthen state revenue while creating a level playing field for both conventional and digital business models," Inge said in a statement.
As of June 30, 236 PMSE businesses had collected and remitted Rp 42.01 trillion in VAT. The cumulative revenue included Rp 731.4 billion in 2020, Rp 3.9 trillion in 2021, Rp 5.51 trillion in 2022, Rp 6.76 trillion in 2023, Rp 8.44 trillion in 2024, Rp 10.32 trillion in 2025, and Rp 6.34 trillion during the first half of 2026.
Tax revenue from crypto asset transactions reached Rp 2.09 trillion, consisting of Rp 1.21 trillion in Article 22 income tax and Rp 881.82 billion in domestic VAT. Cumulative collections stood at Rp 246.54 billion in 2022, Rp 220.89 billion in 2023, Rp 620.38 billion in 2024, Rp 796.74 billion in 2025, and Rp 205 billion in the first six months of 2026.
Meanwhile, taxes from peer-to-peer lending platforms totaled Rp 5.1 trillion through June. The amount included Rp 1.42 trillion in Article 23 withholding tax on interest earned by domestic taxpayers and permanent establishments, Rp 727.9 billion in Article 26 withholding tax on interest paid to foreign taxpayers, and Rp 2.95 trillion in domestic VAT.
The government also collected Rp 5.51 trillion in taxes through the SIPP procurement system, comprising Rp 402.52 billion in Article 22 income tax and Rp 5.11 trillion in VAT. Total SIPP collections reached Rp 402.38 billion in 2022, Rp 1.12 trillion in 2023, Rp 1.33 trillion in 2024, Rp 1.23 trillion in 2025, and Rp 1.44 trillion in the first half of 2026.
