Jakarta. Former National Nutrition Agency (BGN) chief Dadan Hindayana and his two deputies, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sonjaya, were detained by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) on Wednesday after being named suspects in an alleged corruption case linked to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.

The three officials will remain in custody for the next 20 days as prosecutors investigate alleged irregularities in the management and procurement processes supporting the flagship nutrition program.

Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigation at the AGO’s Special Crimes Unit, said the agency had formally named Dadan and his two deputies as suspects over alleged governance violations involving a number of procurements carried out during their tenure at BGN.

“The three have been named suspects in the alleged mismanagement of the Free Nutritious Meals program, particularly related to several procurement activities for the agency's operations,” Syarief said.

Dadan was escorted out of the AGO’s Special Crimes Building wearing a pink detainee vest before being led to a detention vehicle. He declined to respond to questions from journalists waiting outside the building.

Shortly afterward, Lodewyk and Sony, also dressed in pink detainee vests, were taken to the same detention vehicle.

The arrests came a day after President Prabowo Subianto removed the three officials from their positions at the National Nutrition Agency.

Following the dismissals, investigators moved swiftly to search BGN’s headquarters in Central Jakarta as part of the ongoing probe.
