Jakarta. Acting Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti on Monday urged investors not to overreact to the surprise resignation of Perry Warjiyo, saying the central bank would maintain its existing policy direction and continue supporting financial stability.

Destry made the remarks after attending a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto, hours after she was appointed acting governor following Perry's resignation.

"We hope the market will not panic because Bank Indonesia will continue implementing the policies we have pursued so far," Destry said after the meeting.

She said the central bank would maintain its policy mix to safeguard financial system stability, support the rupiah and sustain economic growth.

Destry stressed that exchange-rate stability would remain one of Bank Indonesia's top priorities, adding that the central bank would continue intervening in financial markets through its existing instruments to support the rupiah.

She also said pro-growth monetary policies would remain in place and highlighted last week's decision to reduce hedging costs as part of efforts to attract more foreign capital into Indonesia.

Destry added that monetary policy decisions at Bank Indonesia are made collectively by the Board of Governors, meaning the leadership transition would not alter the institution's policy direction.

The meeting with the president was attended by members of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK), including representatives from the Finance Ministry, Financial Services Authority (OJK), Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), Bank Indonesia, and sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia.

According to Destry, President Prabowo instructed the committee to strengthen coordination among fiscal, monetary and financial institutions to ensure government policies remain aligned.

The president also called for Danantara to participate in future KSSK deliberations to improve coordination between fiscal, monetary and investment policies, Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said after the meeting.
