VMove's NEU Green Electric Motorcycle Sells Out Following Gibran's Endorsement
Jakarta. The NEU Green electric sports motorcycle, ridden by vice-presidential candidate Gibran Rakabuming Raka during a grand campaign at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK) on Feb. 10, has become a sensation, selling out during the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024 at JIExpo, Kemayoran Jakarta.
Manufactured by the Indonesian motorcycle company VMove in a factory in Gresik, East Java, the Neu Green quickly gained popularity after being used by Gibran.
"It sold out immediately. Around 60 units have been sold," Indra Novint Noviansyah, Marketing Director of VMove, told Beritasatu.com, a sister publication of the Jakarta Globe, on Monday.
Many officials and celebrities have reportedly purchased the motorcycle after Gibran's endorsement. However, those interested in owning the same electric sports motorcycle will have to wait as the stock, which dates back to 2022, has already been pre-ordered.
Indra revealed that the NEU Green can now be ordered for Rp 60 million ($3.800), while the light blue color, identical to the one used by Gibran, is priced at Rp 75 million. Notably, the electric sports motorcycle ridden by Gibran is planned to be auctioned off.
The NEU Green boasts dimensions similar to a 250 cc sports motorcycle, featuring a long wheelbase and a robust body. The design, including the fairing and front lights, draws inspiration from classic Italian sports motorcycles, such as the Ducati Panigale V4R, presenting a firm and bold appearance with aerodynamic scoops.
The electric sports motorcycle is powered by Gotion's LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery with a 70 V 60 Ah capacity, providing a claimed range of 150 kilometers on a single full charge. Paired with a 5-kilowatt hub-drive dynamo, it can achieve a maximum speed of 150 km/h, offering power comparable to conventional motorcycles with a 250 cc engine.
