Jakarta. After months of anticipation since its debut at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), the BYD Atto 1 has officially arrived in Indonesia, as the Chinese automaker’s expand into Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing electric vehicle (EV) market.

The compact hatchback, touted as BYD’s most affordable EV, was spotted at Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok Port this week, where several units in various colors were unloaded for delivery to customers. Photos of the arrival were shared on social media by a BYD dealership account, confirming the vehicle’s long-awaited entry into the Indonesian market.

“Units are ready for delivery , don’t miss your chance to be among the first owners,” read the post by @bydbogor_.

The Atto 1 is expected to boost BYD’s sales momentum after a temporary slowdown in September. Priced between Rp 195 million and Rp 235 million ($11,800–$14,200) on the road in Jakarta, the Atto 1 is one of Indonesia’s most budget-friendly electric cars in 2025. The company said the pricing is official, not promotional, signaling BYD’s strategy to target first-time EV users and broaden access to clean mobility.

The Atto 1 comes in two variants, Dynamic and Premium, both built on BYD’s advanced E-Platform 3.0. The Dynamic version features a 30.08 kWh battery offering up to 300 kilometers of range, while the Premium variant carries a larger 38.88 kWh battery capable of reaching 380 kilometers on a single charge.

Both variants are powered by a 55 kW electric motor with 135 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0–50 km/h in just under 5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 130 km/h.

Inside, the Atto 1 offers a modern, compact cabin with a 7-inch digital instrument display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and smart features such as voice control, wireless charging, and vehicle-to-load (VtoL) functionality.

Safety features include six airbags, ISOFIX child-seat anchors, an electric parking brake, tire pressure monitoring, and rear parking sensors with a camera.

Both models are equipped with BYD’s signature Blade Battery, renowned for its high thermal stability and long lifespan, a key safety feature that has helped BYD dominate EV markets in China and Europe.
