Jakarta. State-owned bank BNI allows people to easily invest in the Indonesian retail bonds ORI028 via its smartphone app.

The government is offering the ORI028 from September 29 to October 23. It is now available on wondr by BNI. There are also two series to choose from: ORI028T3 with a fixed coupon of 5.35 percent and a three-year tenor, and ORI028T6 with a fixed coupon of 5.65 percent and a six-year tenor.

BNI SEVP of Wealth Management Steven Suryana said that the app was part of the company’s digital transformation to provide an easy, transparent, and inclusive investment experience.

"ORI028 is a safe investment instrument because it is guaranteed by the state and offers competitive returns. Through wondr by BNI, we want to provide an investment solution that is fast, practical, and accessible anytime," Steven was quoted as saying in a press statement.

On wondr by BNI, customers can check the offer quota, run income simulations, and receive coupon disbursements directly to their BNI accounts.

"With the support of digital technology, we hope that more people, especially the younger generation, will start developing investment habits, one of which is through government bonds," he added.

BNI is also providing cashback of up to Rp 10 million (around $602) for customers who purchase ORI028 using fresh funds through wondr by BNI. This promo applies to both new investors and customers who already have a retail government bond portfolio.

"We are introducing this cashback program to expand public participation in government financing while providing added value for investors," Steven said.

Indonesians living abroad can also make ORI028 purchases via wondr by BNI.

"We are optimistic that this innovation will strengthen BNI's role in expanding financial literacy and inclusion, as well as supporting the independence of national development financing," Steven said.

BNI aims to encourage the public to play an active role in supporting national development financing through safe and accessible investments. The wondr by BNI app also not only expands financial services, but is expected to get more Indonesians, be it at home and abroad, to invest.
