Trade Expo Indonesia Books $22.8 Billion Transactions, $4.37 Billion Investments

Tangerang. 2025 Trade Expo Indonesia or TEI recently ended on a high note with transactions totaling $22.80 billion as of Sunday afternoon.

According to Trade Minister Budi Santoso, the transactions exceeded the initial target of $16.5 billion. The total transactions are also likely to top $23 billion.

"This shows that Indonesian products are not only competitive, but are also a favorite in the global market. The 40th TEI shows that Indonesia has the natural resources and human capital that are needed to produce high-quality exports," Budi was quoted as saying in a press statement.

As many as 34,550 people from 131 countries visited the five-day exhibition, exceeding the target of 30,000 visitors. Foreign buyers totaled 8,045 from 130 countries. Most of these international buyers had come from Malaysia (769 buyers). Followed by China (605), India (594), Nigeria (509), and Egypt (406). Around 1,619 companies also showed up to the event as exhibitors, exceeding the target of 1,500. Around 623 companies in the food, beverage and agricultural products took part in the event. Around 603 companies set up booths at the fashion and lifestyle zone. The event's manufacturing and services zone had 393 companies.

Transactions related to goods trate totaled $17.90 billion, while contracts related to services amounted to $443.70 million. The event also saw $4.37 billion worth of investment deals. Some of these are memoranda of understandings ($22.70 billion), while some $71.60 million are transactions made in the fairground area. There were also some business matchings worth $63.40 million, up by 88 percent year-on-year. Indonesia's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) also recorded $474.70 million worth of transactions at the exhibition.

India was the largest contributor of these transactions, making up around $4.30 billion. Followed by the Netherlands ($3.90 billion), Vietnam ($3.30 billion), the Philippines $3.10 billion), and China ($2.40 billion). The most popular products were in the mining sector as it saw $5.50 billion transactions. Followed by precious metals ($2.70 billion), palm oil and its derivatives ($2.30 billion), charcoal and briquettes ($1.60 billion), and spare parts ($1.40 billion).

The neighboring 2025 Pangan Nusa Expo also saw huge success, booking potential overseas culinary expansion worth $7.30 million. The expo's business matching segment also booked Rp 37.60 billion (around $2.3 million) worth of transactions, as well as some on-the-spot deals totaling Rp 2.40 billion or $144,909. The even opened market access for 12 culinary MSMEs, including the UKM Pangan Award winners, to modern retail networks and railway operator KAI.

Trade Expo Indonesia will return on October 14-18, 2026.
