Tangerang. Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026 has officially begun at ICE BSD City.

Hosted by the Trade Ministry, the exhibition embraces the theme “The Ultimate Hub for Global Sourcing” and runs from Oct. 14-18. The event marks a momentum for Indonesia to boost its exports.

Buyers from 134 countries and 1,873 exhibitors have registered. This year, TEI 2026 targets 30,000 visitors and potential transactions worth at least $17.5 billion.

Trade Minister Budi Santoso said that the exhibition would showcase a wide range of Indonesia’s leading products. It spans food and beverages, agriculture, manufacturing, fashion and crafts, furniture and home décor, as well as industrial estates.

According to Budi, the event aligns with what the government has been working on, be it securing the domestic market, expanding exports, as well as the so-called "From Local to Global" initiative. The last one sees the ministry assisting Indonesian small businesses to enter the export markets by facilitating business matching. The government also has 46 Indonesian trade representative offices across 33 countries, including an ambassador at the World Trade Organization (WTO).

“To date, 25 trade agreements have been implemented, while 13 agreements are currently under negotiation,” Budi said.

Work is also underway to make villages export-ready via the so-called "Desa Bisa Ekspor" program. A Campuspreneur program is also helping students develop businesses. The ministry has teamed up with 25 universities across Indonesia.

Chief Downstream Industry Minister Bahlil Lahadalia spoke at the opening ceremony of Indonesia's push to switch from raw commodity exports to value-added goods.

"This is key to increasing the added value of Indonesia’s natural resources while strengthening national economic self-reliance,” Bahlil said.

Chief Food Affairs Minister Zulkifli Hasan highlighted the growing export opportunities in non-traditional markets, including South Asia.

“This includes Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India. We are also entering Africa,” Zulkifli said.

The government also gave the Primaniyarta Award to outstanding exporters and regional heads who have contributed to increasing national exports.

There were also Primaduta Awards for international partners, members of the diaspora, and heads of Indonesian representative offices abroad who have actively promoted Indonesian products.

The Ministry of Trade will also present the Campuspreneur Award to students achieving the highest transaction value during TEI 2026.

TEI 2026 has also partnered with Pertamina, Bank Mandiri, as well as BPDP.

Also supporting the event is the Indonesian chamber of commerce Kadin and Indonesia Eximbank (LPEI). TEI 2026 is organized by Debindo (PT Debindomulti Adhiswasti).
