Jakarta. state-owned electricity provider PLN has signed power purchase agreements totaling 1,800 megavolt amperes (MVA) with industrial customers in West Java industrial estates and special economic zones (SEZs) in Central Java, strengthening its support for national industrial growth.

The agreements were finalized on Wednesday, Oct. 28, as part of events marking the 80th National Electricity Day. PLN said the commitments are expected to boost the competitiveness of industrial areas and generate broad economic benefits through increased investment, job creation, and expansion of supporting industries.

Jony Oktavian, President Director of PT United Power Indonesia, said reliable electricity from PLN is essential for the continued development of industrial zones and SEZs across the country.

“We thank PLN for consistently ensuring power availability in SEZs. All stakeholders are working hand in hand with PLN to provide electricity and deliver the best for Indonesia,” Jony said.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said reliable and affordable electricity is a foundation for national economic growth. The newly signed agreements, he added, represent more than just power supply, they open doors for new investment, support industrial expansion, and enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness.

“Electricity is the engine of the economy. With stronger and more reliable power infrastructure, industries can grow, investments increase, and new jobs are created. PLN is committed to ensuring electricity becomes a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable economic growth,” Darmawan said.

He added that PLN continues to strengthen its clean energy supply in line with the government’s 2025–2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL), which prioritizes renewable energy development.

“In the future, PLN’s power system will become greener, more reliable, and more efficient. We continue to increase the share of renewable energy so that electricity remains clean, accessible, and affordable for households and businesses alike,” he said.
