Indramayu. State-run power PLN recently announced that it had helped provide free electricity installation for Kampung Nelayan Sejahtera project, located in Eretan Kulon Village of West Java's Indramayu.

This corporate social responsibility program has helped power the houses of 93 families in the village. This electricity assistance not only helps the families meet their electricity needs, but it also recovers their spirit following the tidal flooding. The subsidiary PLN Electricity Services (PLN ES) is in charge of overseeing this program. The initiative also powers up seven public facilities in the relocation area.

Siti Maesaro, a 32-year-old local villager, said that the program had been very beneficial.

"This is very beneficial for us. We are truly grateful. This is not just an assistance, but also the beginning of a new life," she said.

Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf said that the cross-stakeholder collaboration should become a national model for coastal areas affected by the tidal flooding. Kampung Nelayan Sejahtera is a project that sees the government, the alms agency Baznas, and state-owned enterprises like PLN developing housing for communities affected by tidal flooding.

"The electricity assistance is not simply about providing lighting, but a beacon of hope that makes Indramayu a national model for other disaster-affected areas," Saifullah said.

Indramayu Regent Lucky Hakim thanked everyone who had supported the program, which had enabled the local communities to start a new life in a decent home.

"This free electricity connection program addresses the vital needs of 93 families of our fishermen. This support ensures residents can start a new life in a decent home. We hope PLN will continue to contribute to the welfare and progress of Indramayu going forward," said Lucky.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo stated that this program is part of PLN's efforts to support sustainable development and accelerate social recovery for disaster-affected communities. They also support President Prabowo Subianto's goal of promoting equitable prosperity.

"The presence of electricity in Kampung Nelayan Sejahtera is expected to bring comfort to residents as they begin a new life. This access will support daily activities, children's education, and stimulate social and economic activities in their new environment," said Darmawan.

PLN ES President Director Susiana Mutia added that she hopes that the corporate social responsibility program could  provide tangible benefits to the community.

"This is a concrete manifestation of the PLN Group's contribution, particularly PLN ES, in assisting the recovery and rebuilding of residents affected by abrasion, while simultaneously improving their quality of life,"  Susiana said.
