PLN Deploys 500 Personel to Restore Power in Flood-Hit Aceh
Jakarta. State utility firm PLN has dispatched 500 personnel from all units across Indonesia to repair the tower sites in the disaster-hit Aceh.
The PLN team also partnered with the Indonesian armed forces.
The personnel checked on the 150-kilovolt high voltage overhead lines (SUTT). About 258 individuals went to the 150-kV SUTT in Arun-Bireuen. PLN deployed 178 personnel at the 150-kV SUTT in Bireuen-Peusangan, and 64 others in P Brandan-Langsa.
"We are very grateful to the TNI for their contribution in strengthening this effort. This collaboration is a crucial factor in the restoration of the damaged transmission network," PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo was quoted as saying in a press statement.
PLN has partnered with the Air Force to deliver the logistics, personnel, as well as equipment by air as the disaster had cut off road access.
"Distribution to isolated areas using helicopters is a strategic step to ensure personnel and equipment can reach affected areas quickly," Darmawan said.
The Indonesian Army also helped deploy trucks to reach areas still accessible by land.
"Our personnel are working as hard as possible so we can quickly restore the power system," Darmawan said.
Amiruddin, General Manager of PLN's Main Distribution Unit and Load Regulation Center (UIP3B) for Sumatra, said that personnel and emergency materials had arrived at the affected tower locations.
"Emergency personnel and materials are already at critical points on the affected towers. We are working to ensure the emergency tower construction is completed quickly. This way, we can restore Aceh's power supply as soon as possible," Amiruddin said.
