Bandung. State-owned defense company Pindad is currently in discussions with B-Universe Media Holdings to enhance the visibility of its export-oriented products.

Based in Bandung, Pindad is renowned as a major producer of armored personnel carriers, combat tactical vehicles, automatic rifles, pistols, and ammunition in Indonesia. Notably, it holds the distinction of being the first company in Southeast Asia to manufacture mid-sized tanks equipped with anti-ballistic and anti-mine systems through collaboration with a Turkish company.

Pindad also serves as a major arms supplier for both the Indonesian Military and the National Police.

"We are keen to secure a media partnership to promote and bolster awareness of our domestically-manufactured products, with the goal of positioning ourselves as a leading entity in the Indonesian defense industry," said Syaifuddin, Vice President Director of Pindad, during discussions held at the company’s headquarters in Bandung.

The potential collaboration aims to instill "a strong sense of determination and national pride" in the locally manufactured defense equipment and weaponry, which may not yet be widely recognized, he said.

Despite the widespread adoption and satisfaction with Pindad products by numerous foreign countries, many Indonesians remain unfamiliar with the diverse range of offerings from the company, Syaifuddin noted.

Ida Dewiyanti, Corporate Secretary of B-Universe, said both parties have been exploring potential avenues for collaboration, particularly in disseminating information about the high-quality defense equipment produced by Pindad.

"Pindad boasts a comprehensive product portfolio, utilizing locally sourced components and meeting international standards, which are sold in export markets," Ida said.
