B-Universe, SGU Forge Strategic Alliance Linking Academia and Industry
Jakarta. B-Universe Media Holdings on Tuesday officially entered into a strategic partnership with Swiss German University (SGU) to strengthen alignment between higher education and the media industry.
The collaboration will cover human capital development, applied research, and social impact programs aimed at delivering broader benefits to society.
SGU Rector Samuel P. Kusumocahyo said the partnership represents a practical implementation of Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi -- the three pillars of higher education: teaching, research, and community service.
“This is a collaboration between academia and industry, where in higher education we uphold the three pillars of teaching, research, and service to society,” Samuel said after the signing ceremony at Hotel Mulia.
Education and Industry Linkage
Under the education pillar, the partnership will include training initiatives as well as degree and non-degree programs. Curricula will be designed to address the digital transformation challenges currently facing the media industry.
“Our cooperation with B-Universe will include activities related to education such as training, degree programs, and non-degree programs, involving faculties within SGU,” he said.
Research and development will form another key pillar of the partnership. SGU said it is committed to helping B-Universe solve industry challenges through data-driven, practical research rather than purely theoretical studies.
The university said the goal is to ensure research outcomes move beyond academic discussion and can be directly implemented by industry players.
“We want to work with B-Universe on research and development topics that come directly from industry needs, so the results can be applied immediately by B-Universe and, hopefully, by other industries as well,” Samuel said.
He added that SGU offers study programs highly relevant to the partnership, including Digital Communication and Media, as well as Global Strategic Communication.
Samuel said B-Universe’s broad media ecosystem -- including BTV, Beritasatu.com, The Jakarta Globe, Investor Daily, and B-Network -- offers rich and timely issues that could become valuable academic research subjects.
Beyond education and research, the partnership will also include community service initiatives such as scholarship programs.
The move is expected to expand access to higher education while helping develop skilled talent ready to enter Indonesia’s creative economy and national media sector.
