Nurturing Dreams in Southeast Sulawesi: UT School Launches New Class in Kolaka
Jakarta. From a regency on the coast of Southeast Sulawesi, there emerges a great dream from the youth who are now beginning to find hope.
UT School, an educational institution under the foundation of United Tractors Tbk (UT), namely the United Tractors Karya Bakti Foundation (YKBUT), has once again opened a regular class for the Heavy Equipment Mechanic study program in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province. The presence of this class is part of UT School’s commitment to preparing a generation of competent, professional, and competitive youth for the heavy equipment industry.
This new class marks the launch of UT School Kolaka batch 38 at SMKN 9 Kolaka. A total of 26 selected students out of more than 140 applicants were chosen to participate in this program.
They are the best sons and daughters of the region, having passed a rigorous selection process and are ready to become skilled mechanics. For one year, they will undergo the Basic Mechanic Course (BMC), a training journey that combines theoretical knowledge and real-world practical experience.
"With the opening of UT School Kolaka, which becomes the 26th learning point of UT School, we hope this program can create a real impact, especially in producing a young generation ready to contribute to the heavy equipment industry," said UT School Director, Mochamad Hamdan Aziz.
The inauguration of UT School Kolaka was attended by several important figures including the Regent of Kolaka, H. Amri, S.STP., M.Si; Head of the Southeast Sulawesi Provincial Education Office, Prof. Dr. H. During the inauguration event, UT also symbolically handed over its support to SMKN 9 Kolaka in the form of a safety center, crane truck, and donated practice tools from the UT School.
The training journey at UT School is not only about technical skills. Before entering the classroom, students will undergo a 10-day Mental and Attitude Development Program (Bintalsik) with the Indonesian National Army at Military District Command 1412/Kolaka. This phase is a crucial foundation to build resilience, discipline, and strong character to face the working world.
Afterward, they will undergo three months of In-Class Training, followed by eight months of On-the-Job Training (OJT) at various UT Group operational sites. At the end of the program, students will be assessed through a competency certification exam organized by the Indonesian Heavy Equipment Professional Certification Institute (LSPABI).
To support the learning process, UT School has prepared experienced instructors, modern training facilities, and practice equipment such as electric simulators, cutaway components, and complete toolboxes.
All of this is designed not only for students to learn but also to be ready to face real industry challenges.
The presence of UT School Kolaka is expected to open doors for the youth of Southeast Sulawesi to grow and achieve in the industrial world. More than just producing mechanics, this program serves as a bridge for local youth to build their future, become certified professionals, and contribute to Indonesia’s development.
