Jakarta. Former Indonesia national football team coach Shin Tae-yong and a free ice cream festival are set to headline the Indonesia’s Horse Racing (IHR): Triple Crown Serie I & Pertiwi Cup 2026 at Sultan Agung Horse Racing Track in Yogyakarta on Saturday, April 4, 2026. The world-class coach is confirmed to attend the kick-off of Indonesia’s 2026 Triple Crown series.

Triple Crown Serie I marks the first of three main championships in the Triple Crown series, followed by Serie II in May and the Indonesia Derby in July 2026. A racehorse that secures a hat-trick by winning the three-year-old Derby class across all three events will earn the prestigious Triple Crown title.

A total of 138 racehorses from 11 regions across Indonesia will compete in the IHR Triple Crown Serie I & Pertiwi Cup 2026, which offers Rp 580 million ($34,000) in total prizes. In addition to launching the Triple Crown race, the event will also feature the annual Pertiwi Cup, showcasing a special class for three-year-old fillies competing for the title.

Beyond the premier classes, spectators can also enjoy 16 additional race categories, alongside appearances by Shin Tae-yong and unlimited ice cream for attendees.

Shin Tae-yong, widely recognized for leading Indonesia to the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, will take part in several on-site activities, including engaging with fans. “The presence of Shin Tae-yong, a world-class coach, represents the spirit of ‘Race to the World Stage,’ which is the theme of IHR 2026. It reflects our aspiration to bring Indonesian horse racing to the global stage. We hope his presence will inspire collaboration to elevate the quality of Indonesian horse racing to international standards,” Nugdha added.

The ice cream festival is designed to enhance the race-day experience. VP Marketing & Operation of SARGA.CO, Kevin Jonathan, said, “We are introducing the Ice Cream Festival to create a fun and comfortable horse racing experience, especially in Yogyakarta’s warm weather. Just like ice cream is a fun treat enjoyed by all ages, horse racing can also become an enjoyable activity for everyone.”

The event offers multiple ticket categories, including regular tickets priced at Rp 25,000, tribune tickets at Rp 150,000, and VIP tickets at Rp 500,000, all of which include unlimited ice cream. Tickets are available online via sargatiket.com and on-site on the day of the event.

Shin Tae-yong also expressed his enthusiasm about attending the event. “I am very excited to return to Indonesia and try something new by watching horse racing. I have heard a lot about horse racing in Indonesia and am very interested to experience it firsthand with the fans,” he said.

The IHR Triple Crown Serie I & Pertiwi Cup 2026 is the second event in the IHR 2026 series, which consists of eight events in total. The championship will feature 18 race classes, including 10 age-group races and 8 height-based categories. In addition to on-site viewing at Sultan Agung Horse Racing Track, the event will be broadcast on TVRI Sport and streamed via YouTube Sarga.co, Kompas TV, Metro TV, and TV One.
