Greater Financial Inclusion: BNI Expands agen46 Network to Bima
Jakarta. State-run bank BNI has set up an agen46 smart network in remote areas, including Bima city in West Nusa Tenggara.
BNI's agen46 aims to bring formal banking services closer to the people, from basic transactions to cash withdrawals. This makes banking services more accessible as people do not need to visit a branch office or look for an ATM. According to the BNI Corporate Secretary, this aligns with the government's goal of spurring economic equality by strengthening the village economy. The presence of agen46 aims to expand financial inclusion and literacy while simultaneously stimulating the local economy.
"It boosts economic activity at the local level," Okki said.
Fitra Wati, a shop owner in Bima, said her business had grown since becoming an agen46 partner. Transactions take place almost all day long and provide additional income.
"For transactions [as a BNI agen46 member], thank God, the profits have increased my income. I received microloans by joining this program. It allows me to further develop my business," said Fitra.
The agen46 program has also become a boon for the local community, according to Woha District head, Irfan HM Nor.
"As a bus driver, the ATM is quite far from home. Mrs. Fitra Wati's shop is nearby, so I can immediately make the transactions," Irfan said.
Bima's onion seller, Alan, said that agen46 had shortened transaction time and costs.
"I can do anything," Alan said.
