Denpasar. eL Hotel & Resort Bali Sanur has handed over six kiosks to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the Intaran Traditional Village area of Sanur, Bali, providing improved facilities for local vendors who previously operated along Intaran Beach under limited conditions.

The initiative is part of the resort’s commitment to growing alongside the local community, which plays a key role in the development of Sanur’s tourism industry.

Enggartiasto Lukita, founder of eL Hotel & Resort Bali Sanur and a former Indonesian trade minister, said the program demonstrates how investment and community interests can be aligned for mutual benefit.

“As investors entering this area, we were welcomed warmly. At the same time, the village encouraged us to grow together with the people who had already built their livelihoods here. This is something rare and, in my view, should serve as an example for other regions,” Enggartiasto said during the handover ceremony on Sunday.

The six kiosks were formally handed over to the Intaran Traditional Village administration, which will oversee their use by local residents.

Enggartiasto noted that investors and small businesses are often viewed as competing interests. In reality, he said, investors, local communities, and government authorities should be able to build partnerships that benefit all parties.

“We want the area to become more comfortable, better organized, and free from inequality. Vendors can operate in better conditions, visitors enjoy a more pleasant experience, and ultimately MSME revenues can increase,” he said.

Intaran Traditional Village chief I Gusti Agung Alit Kencana welcomed the initiative, saying the village remains open to investors as long as local community interests are protected.

According to Alit, investment should create added value for residents through business opportunities, employment, and improved welfare.

“We strongly support investors who want to grow in Intaran. At the same time, we always remind them that local residents should not be left behind. Investment must provide opportunities for communities to develop and share in the economic benefits created,” he said.

The benefits of the program are already being felt by recipients.

One beneficiary, Nyoman Lediani, received a kiosk to sell food and beverages near Intaran Beach. She said the new facility provides a far more suitable and comfortable business location than she previously had.

“I am very happy and grateful to have been given a place to run my business. I hope programs like this continue because they help support our family’s economy,” she said.

Another recipient, Nyoman Sukadana, said the kiosk allows him to focus more on his business thanks to having a permanent and better-organized selling space.

“I would like to thank the hotel for providing us with a place to do business. Having this kiosk helps me concentrate on running my business,” he said.

In addition to selling traditional Balinese handicrafts such as masks, woven bamboo hats, bamboo wind chimes, and kites, Sukadana also offers fresh coconuts that are popular with both domestic and international tourists.

I Putu Aryana, head of entrepreneurship and MSME development at the Denpasar City Government, said the project demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting local economic activity.

“We greatly appreciate eL Hotel & Resort Bali Sanur for providing these kiosks to the Intaran community. This shows that the company is not only focused on its business operations but also cares about the surrounding environment and local residents,” Aryana said.

According to Aryana, the improved facilities will help vendors operate more comfortably and professionally while enhancing the appeal of Intaran Beach as a tourist destination.
