Jakarta. Indonesian police have arrested a suspected gunman in connection with a shooting at The Shady Pig bar in Bali that left two people injured, including a Chinese tourist, authorities said on Sunday.

The suspect, an Indonesian man whose identity has not been disclosed, was arrested at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang on Saturday night.

"Thank God, we have successfully apprehended the suspected shooter. We will provide further details later," Degi Rajuandi, head of Unit 1 of the Badung Police Criminal Investigation Division, said on Sunday.

The arrest was the result of a joint operation involving the Bali Police's General Crime Directorate, Badung Police, Jakarta Metropolitan Police's General Crime Directorate, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police, the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, and immigration authorities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

The shooting occurred at around 2:50 a.m. local time on Friday at The Shady Pig bar on Jalan Pantai Berawa in Canggu, Badung Regency.

Two people were wounded in the incident: a 32-year-old security guard identified by his initials IMY and a Chinese tourist identified as EA.

According to police, the shooting stemmed from an altercation between the suspect and the Chinese tourist. IMY intervened in an attempt to break up the dispute and positioned himself in front of EA.

The suspect then allegedly opened fire, striking IMY in the left thigh. The bullet passed through IMY's leg before hitting EA in the left thigh. The projectile remains lodged in EA's leg, police said.

Following his arrest, the suspect was taken to Badung Police headquarters for questioning and further investigation.

Police have not released the suspect's identity as the investigation is ongoing. Officers have also cordoned off The Shady Pig as part of the crime scene investigation.
