BNI Recruits 4,103 Interns in Govt-Backed Program
Jakarta. State lender BNI reported that the company had recruited 4,103 interns as part of the government-backed internship program.
The government has launched a nationwide internship program for university graduates. Manpower Minister Yassierli recently visited BNI's headquarters to check on the initiative.
"BNI is one of the state-owned enterprise partners that recruits the largest number of interns, totaling over 4,000 people across Indonesia," Yassierli said.
As many as 4,103 individuals took part in the program, about 3,570 people took part in the first batch. Around 533 others joined the second batch. Of these, 88 percent were placed in 205 branch offices and 17 regional offices. The remaining 12 percent underwent internships at the head office.
Yassierli believes that equitable distribution of participant placements is crucial to ensure that internships are not concentrated only in major cities.
"We want to provide equal opportunities to graduates in the regions so they can intern in their respective areas," he emphasized.
BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan stated that this internship program aligns with the needs of the ever-growing banking industry, particularly amidst the acceleration of digital financial services.
BNI needs adaptive young talent who understand banking business processes, from product marketing and financing to back-office services.
"We have acquired wealth of talent ready to support BNI's business expansion, particularly in the savings and credit marketing sector, which is currently a focus for strengthening the company," Putrama said.
This collaboration with the Manpower Ministry also strengthens the connection between education and industry needs, while ensuring a supply of young workers relevant to the transformation of the financial sector.
BNI affirms its commitment to continue playing an active role in expanding job opportunities for young graduates and accelerating the competency development of the Indonesian workforce through direct work experience in the banking industry. This program is expected to create competitive professional talent ready to meet future job market needs.
