BNI Distributes Aid for Padang, Sibolga Disaster Victims
Jakarta. State lender BNI has distributed assistance to victims of flash floods and landslides that have hit Padang and Sibolga since early this week.
The aid includes staple food, including rice (both uncooked and ready-to-eat), instant noodles, and eggs. BNI also provided baby and elderly supplies such as diapers, baby formula, and porridge.
The bank focused on helping the worst-affected areas that had declared emergencies, including the Koto Tangah and Pauh districts. The aid will go to approximately 2,000 affected families.
BNI also distributed similar assistance to the North Sumatran city of Sibolga. The lender has allocated Rp 25 million ($1,502) for the initial emergency response phase, lasting a week after the incident. If the disaster in Sibolga lasts longer or has a greater impact, BNI will coordinate further with relevant agencies to support the ongoing recovery process.
"BNI continues to move quickly in distributing emergency aid so that people's basic needs can be met immediately and the recovery process can proceed more quickly," the bank's corporate secretary Okki Rushartomo said.
"We hope this assistance not only meets urgent needs, but also demonstrates our concern and moral support for the affected communities," he said.
The assistance is part of the BNI Berbagi program, which reflects the company's commitment to support disaster relief.
