Jakarta. Viscose rayon producer APR recently teamed up with local designer Kala Studio to launch an eco-friendly Philo Garden collection that aims to empower women.

The collection has three motifs and seven designs to choose from; all seeking to portray powerful, independent, and multiple-role women. For instance, with the dramatic-color Night Garden motif, KALA Studio wishes to depict women’s ability to become the light in life dynamics. The blushing philodendron-inspired collection mainly uses APR’s sustainable viscose rayon in support of sustainable fashion.

"By launching this collection, we hope to inspire all great women out there to create and help local fashion designers and brands to switch to environmentally-friendly and easily biodegradable raw materials," Zoey Rasjid, the head of marketing communication at APR, said.

"This does not only apply to the products but also to consumers. So we can all protect the planet together," Zoey said.

According to Zoey, the Philo Garden collection aligns with APR's sustainability roadmap: APR2030. Under the APR2030, the APRIL Group subsidiary has set a goal to advance gender equality across its value chain over the next decade. Zoey added: “We would like to empower Indonesian women fashion designers as part of APR2030.”

This collaboration is also part of APR’s Everything Indonesia campaign that calls on local designers to embrace Indonesia-made materials rather than importing them.

“APR’s sustainable fashion campaign, which encourages local fashion brands to use eco-friendly materials, is in line with our wish to promote sustainable fashion,” Kala Studio chief executive officer Vina Artha Ameilya said.

APR’s viscose rayon is not only soft but also versatile and easily blends with other materials. The breathable fabric is biodegradable, thus making it a perfect fit for sustainable fashion.

APR also helps Kala Studio set up a pop-up store for the Philo Garden collection at the collaborative space Jakarta Fashion Hub. The collection is also available on Kala Studio’s official website.
