Lombok, W. Nusa Tenggara. A key witness has revealed details of a drug-fueled pool party involving two police officers that led to the mysterious death of Brigadier Nurhadi on the tourist island of Gili Trawangan in West Nusa Tenggara.

Through her lawyer, Yan Mangandar Putra, witness Misri has come forward to recount the events leading up to Nurhadi’s death. Her testimony details how a holiday trip, arranged through social media contacts with Commissioner Yogi, escalated into a party involving illegal drugs, including ecstasy and the tranquilizer Riklona, in the hours before Nurhadi was found dead at the bottom of a swimming pool.

According to Yan, Misri first met Commissioner Yogi online, where he later invited her to join him in Lombok for a getaway to Gili Trawangan. Misri agreed under the condition that Yogi cover all expenses, reportedly around Rp 10 million ($600) per night.

On the day of the trip, Misri traveled from Bali to Lombok, where she met Yogi, Second Inspector Haris Candra, and Brigadier Nurhadi. They were later joined by another woman, identified as Melani Putri, before taking a speedboat to Gili Trawangan and checking into Villa Tekek.

That evening, the group of five gathered at the villa’s pool, where Misri alleges the drug use began. “They took Riklona and ecstasy in the pool before sunset, and Nurhadi himself asked Yogi for the drugs,” Yan said, citing Misri’s testimony. Misri claims she had previously purchased Riklona in Bali at Yogi’s request, while the ecstasy was supplied by Yogi.

Tensions reportedly flared during the gathering when Nurhadi, allegedly under the influence of drugs, became overly close to Melani Putri in the pool, prompting Misri to intervene and warn him.

As the evening progressed, the group dispersed. Yogi went to rest in his room, while Misri said Haris returned to the villa twice, appearing to check on the situation. Meanwhile, Nurhadi remained in the pool alone for over an hour.

At around 9 p.m., Misri discovered Nurhadi submerged at the bottom of the pool. Yogi immediately jumped in to retrieve him and attempted CPR, but the efforts to revive Nurhadi were unsuccessful. The officer was taken to a local clinic on Gili Trawangan, where he was pronounced dead.

The case has drawn comparisons to the high-profile murder of Brigadier Nofriansyah Yosua Hutabarat, also known as Brigadier J, by his superior, former Inspector General Ferdy Sambo, in July 2022. Sambo was sentenced to life in prison for orchestrating the killing, a case that exposed deep issues within Indonesia’s police force, including abuse of power and internal cover-ups.

Police have yet to release an official statement detailing the next steps in the investigation.
