Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Tuesday arrested Pekalongan Regent Fadia Arafiq and more than a dozen others over alleged bribery linked to regional procurement.

Fadia, 47, is the daughter of legendary dangdut singer A. Rafiq and previously pursued a career in music before entering politics. She spent her childhood and teenage years in Jakarta and later studied in Semarang.

She is the third regional leader detained by the KPK this year, following the arrests of Madiun Mayor Maidi and Pati Regent Sudewo.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said Fadia was transported to Jakarta along with two of her staff for questioning. Hours later, 11 additional individuals detained in Pekalongan — including regional government officials and businesspeople — were also brought to the capital.

In addition to the regent, Pekalongan Regional Secretary Mohammad Yulian Akbar was among those arrested, Budi said.

Under Indonesian law, the KPK has 24 hours to conduct a preliminary examination before determining whether to formally name suspects or release those detained.

“The investigation relates to alleged corruption in the procurement of goods and services within the Pekalongan regency government,” Budi said, without providing further details.

The commission said it would disclose the identities of suspects and evidence seized after completing its initial inquiry.

The arrests were carried out through a so-called “hand-catch operation” (OTT), a sting method frequently used by the KPK in corruption cases involving public officials.
