KPK Charges Blueray Cargo Boss Over Rp 61B Customs Bribes
Jakarta. Indonesian anti-graft prosecutors have charged the owner of logistics company Blueray Cargo and two associates with allegedly bribing customs officials to bypass import inspections.
Prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said Jhon Field, the owner of Blueray Cargo, along with operations manager Deddy Kurniawan Sukolo and document team head Andri, provided bribes totaling Rp 61.3 billion (about $3.5 million) to officials at the Finance Ministry’s customs office.
“The defendants gave a total [equivalent] of Rp 61.3 billion rupiah in Singapore dollars,” prosecutors told the Jakarta anti-corruption court on Wednesday.
The payments were allegedly made to facilitate the import of goods linked to the Blueray Cargo group, allowing shipments to pass through customs without physical inspection.
In addition to cash, the defendants are accused of providing entertainment services and luxury goods worth Rp 1.845 billion to several officials between July 2025 and January 2026.
Those named in the indictment include senior figures at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, part of the Ministry of Finance, such as enforcement director Rizal, intelligence subdirector Sisprian Subiaksono, and customs intelligence section head Orlando Hamonangan Sianipar.
Prosecutors said the bribes were intended to expedite clearance processes and ease scrutiny over imported goods.
“The aim was to ensure that imported goods belonging to Blueray Cargo could be released more quickly from customs supervision,” they said.
The case also points to a broader scheme involving the manipulation of import channels, enabling goods to enter Indonesia without proper inspection, raising the risk of illegal, counterfeit or substandard products entering the domestic market.
Investigators suspect regular payments of around Rp 7 billion per month were made between December 2025 and February 2026 to secure favorable treatment in import processing.
The arrests followed a sting operation in which investigators seized cash in multiple currencies worth Rp 40.5 billion and 5.3 kilograms of gold valued at Rp 15.7 billion.
Blueray Cargo is a private Indonesian logistics and freight forwarding company engaged in import-export services, including customs clearance and cargo handling. The firm operates as an intermediary for businesses bringing goods into Indonesia, managing documentation and facilitating shipment processes.
The case remains under investigation, with authorities seeking to identify additional parties potentially involved in the network.
