Jakarta. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Jakarta on Monday for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto personally welcoming him at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base.

After descending from his aircraft, Modi was greeted by Prabowo before the two leaders walked together past an honor guard and ceremonial gun salute.

Prabowo was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago, Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravorty said Modi's visit was made at Prabowo's invitation and reciprocated the Indonesian president's trip to India in January 2025.

During his stay, Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Prabowo, attend an official state banquet, and address members of the Indian community in Indonesia on July 7.

On the following day, the Indian leader will visit Prambanan Temple before continuing his trip to Australia.

India has previously pledged support for the restoration and preservation of Prambanan, the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia and one of Southeast Asia's most significant cultural heritage sites.
