Prabowo to Choose From Three Finalists for New Immigration Chief
Jakarta. The Immigration and Correctional Affairs Ministry has shortlisted three candidates for the post of Director General of Immigration, a position currently held by an acting official.
The selection committee, led by Deputy Minister for Immigration Silmy Karim, will submit the final list to President Prabowo Subianto.
“These three finalists are those with the highest cumulative scores across all stages of the selection process. They truly represent the best candidates,” Silmy said on Thursday.
The nominees to be forwarded to the president are:
- Brig. Gen. Yuldi Yusman, the current acting director general of immigration.
- Ibnu Ismoyo, head of planning and finance at the Immigration Ministry.
- Ahmad Purbaja, from the Finance and Asset Management Agency of North Maluku Province.
The selection was conducted between July 22 and September 23, covering administrative checks, technical competency tests, managerial and socio-cultural assessments, interviews, health exams, and background evaluations.
Silmy siad the process was based on transparency, merit, and competitiveness to ensure integrity and competence. “The position of Director General of Immigration is strategic and crucial, given its authority to regulate and oversee cross-border movement into and out of Indonesia,” he said.
Silmy, who himself previously served as Director General of Immigration from 2023 to 2024, underlined the importance of professional leadership.
“This selection process reflects our commitment to transparent and accountable governance. We expect the chosen leader to strengthen immigration oversight and improve public services,” he added.
