Jokowi to Inaugurate Al Azhar Summarecon Islamic School Building in Nusantara
Jakarta. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is set to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Al Azhar Summarecon Islamic School building in Indonesia's future capital, the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan (Kaltim) at the end of May 2024.
"The groundbreaking ceremony will be graced by President Jokowi at the end of May 2024 in the sub-zone area of public service facilities (SPU) 1 in IKN," said Adrianto P Adhi, President Director of Summarecon Agung (SMRA), in a release on Monday.
The Al Azhar Summarecon Islamic School, covering an area of 2.9 hectares (ha), will offer education from elementary to high school levels. Currently, the land permit is undergoing the issuance process by the Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN).
"The Al Azhar Summarecon IKN School is intended for the families of civil servants and the general public in IKN," he added.
The school will be equipped with sports facilities, laboratories, and a multipurpose building, and will include the Al Azhar Summarecon IKN Mosque.
"This integrated educational institution is Summarecon's contribution as one of the property developers in IKN, in collaboration with the Al Azhar Islamic Boarding School Foundation (YPI)," he further explained.
Edi Darnadi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Syiar Bangsa Foundation, mentioned that the Syiar Bangsa Foundation, under Summarecon's auspices, has Al Azhar schools in four areas developed by Summarecon, namely Bekasi, Serpong, Bandung, and Makassar.
